I am interested in illustrating stories through set design. Every part of the work plays a crucial role in storytelling, from the backdrop to each individual prop. I have an interest in creating sets inspired by my life and specifically my childhood. These sets serve as a bridge between the worlds of nostalgia and visual art, allowing me to revisit the cherished stories and memories that shaped my early years. Growing up, I would drive down the same country road to get to my house. I remember looking out the window and thinking about all the intricate details of each plant and farm field. This body of work I have created is a scenic art representation of this memory and I wanted to visually capture the love I have for my hometown. Through my work, I aim to transport the viewer into the imaginative landscapes and narratives that captivated my childhood, evoking a sense of sentimentality and wonder. Every project is a dialogue between me, the space, and the viewer. My designs occupy adult spaces, but are essentially created for children. Childhood and nostalgia are infused into the work and create a space of joy and creativity. This is due in part to my own desire to return to the simplicities of childhood, but also as a way to connect with others who long for the innocent pleasures of their youth.
